Taking proper care of your body is of great importance in both the prevention of disease (the absence of ease) and in the work of healing from illness or injury.  The emotional stress of daily living has a profound effect on both your physical and emotional health.  We tend to be creatures of habit - in the way we sit, walk, work, and what we put in our bodies as well.  The first step in caring for your body is to practice being "in" it.  Tuning into your breathing and the sensations that are taking place within your body is a practical way to work at being in your body.
Yoga postures are designed to stimulate the musculoskeletal system as well as the internal organs to work more effectively.  Yoga invites you to move in your body in new ways; to give every part of you, from your facial cells to your digestive system, the gift of movement.  Your job is to listen to your body's messages as you flex, bend, breathe and twist. Every body is different, so each person has to come to learn her own limits by exploring patiently and mindfully.
